Overview
Freestyle Frolic Barefoot Dance Events
Mid-Hudson Valley, Ulster County, New York

Dance as if no one is watching
The Freestyle Frolic is an alternative to the club scene for dance lovers:  a not-for-profit all-volunteer freestyle dance event that happens twice a month in the Mid-Hudson Valley (see schedule of events). The Frolic dances are alcohol free, smoke free, and drug free, which keeps the focus on dancing.  Dancers of all kinds attend, ranging from people who are serious about dance and want to expand their experience and learn from other dancers, to people who just want to get down in a fun, open atmosphere.  No dance skills or partners are required!

Dance entry is $5 adult, $2 teens, $2 seniors, with volunteers & kids 12 & under free!

Children must be accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian.  No dogs, drugs, alcohol or smoking, please.

The Frolic has some of the most excellent DJs in the country, who spin an ever-changing array of music. At every Frolic you'll hear a wide variety of music: R&B, World, Funk, Tribal, Hip Hop, Ambient, Latin, Reggae, House, African, Trance, Electronica, Disco, Rock, Techno, Drum & Bass, and pop favorites. Our DJs are constantly researching the hottest dance music being produced.  If you love to dance, this is the place for you!

The Frolic is a member dance of Dance New England, a community of similar dances that stage wonderful dance workshop and camping events throughout the year. If there isn't a Frolic happening this weekend, and you're itchin' to move, check to see if there's a dance happening at New York City's Barefoot Boogie, a sister DNE dance of the Freestyle Frolic.

You may also view our Vision Statement, which further describes the Frolic's goals and policies.

Cost of our Dance Events
Cost of Our Freestyle Frolic Dances

The cost of Frolics is kept low by our incredible volunteer energy. Nobody in the Frolic community is paid for their time, not even the DJs. However, it does cost money to rent the spaces, buy equipment and supplies, and print mailings. Additional donations are always welcome.

Please consider helping us with the various tasks involved in setting up our dances. It can be just as much fun as the dance itself!
